All Calliclasses to be held at Primrose Park unless otherwise stated.
Saturday 4th July. 1pm to 4pm. Materials.
Saturday 1st August. 10am to Noon. Cards.
Saturday 1st August. 1pm to 4pm. Cadels.
Saturday 3 October.1pm to 4pm. Calligrams.
Saturday 5th December.1pm to 4pm. Xmas Baubles.
Fees on our Calliclasses are:
Members; $20.00

CALLICLASS 4th JULY 2026.
MATERIALS
In this Calliclass we are going to look at all the other items that can make a make a mark, which could be used to enhance your calligraphy.
This class will concentrate on all the odd items that can be used to make a calligraphic mark on many different material surfaces. There will be a collection of things that you can all use to discover how they work. There will be items in your kit box, often given to you that you have no name for or that you have never used, so bring these along.
Requirements
- A3 bleedproof pad
- Inks , paints, Mixing brushes. (optional: Gold paint or Gold Gouache)
- Palette ,water jars and tissues or rag
- The usual pencil, ruler and eraser
- Any item you have and do not know how to use
- Small piece of fine sandpaper.
If you have these, bring pieces of tracing paper, brown paper, coloured card, paperbark, leather, etc.
Cadels
Cadels with Bob Howe

1pm – 4pm at Primrose Park
Come and enter the wondrous, bizarre world of Cadels, the ornate initial letters of the Gothic era. They are a wonderful and eye-catching way to decorate gothic lettering.
If you dance with gothic, you will waltz with a cadel! If you happen to think they’re too intimidating, they are not as difficult as they seem. We will learn to construct them stroke by stroke, using marks already in your calligraphic arsenal.
They are like building a house – laying down a foundation, bricking up the walls, sliding a roof across, adding the wiring…all in one afternoon! Old-fashioned? No one does them these days? We will revive them, and wow people with their opulent flamboyance!
